“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2) God’s Word is amazing. We’ve read these verses many times before, but as we pray and prepare to go overseas as missionaries, the reality of being justified freely and completely by God’s grace without any of it depending on us is overwhelming. Jesus is enough! Praise God!

As we drove to Michigan from Utah, we spent some time with Katie’s family in Kansas. It was wonderful to be able to see them after several years. Nathan and Katrina especially enjoyed time with their great uncles and aunt. Family is such a precious gift.

Our meeting with First Baptist Church of Troy, Michigan was such a blessing. One evening while there, we joined several brothers and sisters in Christ from both Iraq and Germany. What an encouraging time! The following week we visited Carleton Community Baptist Church and had a wonderful time with the church family there.

On our drive back home, we took a few days rest to visit the Ark and Creation Museum in Kentucky. It’s such a joy being able to share God with Nathan and Katrina and give them a taste of how faithful and loving God is. Praise the Lord, the rest of the drive back to the West went well.

In Gallup, New Mexico, we spent the weekend with Pastor Kleeberger and Emmanuel Baptist Church sharing the ministry in Spain. It was great to see how God is working in New Mexico and changing lives for His glory.

Over the past two weeks, we’ve been back in Chandler, Arizona. We’ve be able to rest, recharge, refresh, and restock. Today, as I write this letter, we are celebrating Katrina’s 1st birthday. She is such a blessing to our family, brightening up the room, bringing laughter and joy to us. We love seeing how Nathan and Katrina play together and how he tries to help her learn new things.

We have another week before we begin traveling again to Idaho, South Carolina, Utah, and California. Our prayer is to finish our deputation travels by the end of next year. Yet we know our travels are in God’s hands; we continue to prayer for God’s will and wisdom. We covet your prayers during this time in our ministry as well.

Trip to Spain & New Year

God is good. Over the past 7 months of deputation, we have seen time and again the goodness of God. The birth of Katrina, traveling full-time across multiple states, contacting and visiting churches, and our recent survey trip to Spain; God has been faithful, always provided for our needs, and protected us. We have combined our January and February letters to give a full update of all that is happening.

We finished 2024 with Faith Baptist Church/Iglesia Bautista La Fe in Glendale. During our time off traveling in December, Mark spent a few weeks going through The Exchange Bible study with his dad. As you might remember, we’ve been praying for his dad’s salvation, so this was an answer to prayer to go through this Gospel study. After finishing the 4th lesson, Mark’s dad made the decision to place his trust in Jesus Christ only. Praise the Lord!

January began with a meeting with La Iglesia Evangélica Bautista in Phoenix and then a missions conference at Saguaro Hills Baptist Church in East Mesa. Both were a huge blessing to us and encouraged us spiritually to stay faithful to God and His calling every day.

We celebrated Nathan’s 3rd birthday on January 13. He is an energetic and friendly boy, and we pray that God would work in his heart even now to see his need for Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

On January 20, we flew from Arizona to Madrid, Spain for a 10-day survey trip. What a blessing it was! Yes, we had some luggage issues on the way there, but praise the Lord that was the only issue. We enjoyed meeting the Dyserts in person and seeing their ministry in the Madrid area.

After arriving back to Arizona on February 1st, we came down with the flu and are still recovering from jet lag. But it was a good and profitable survey trip, and was a blessing we could go as a family. Both of the kids did a great job through the airports, on the planes, fighting jet lag, and meeting new people. This was another answer to prayer.

In just a few days we begin our full-time traveling again. We’ll be spending about 3 months in California, Arizona, and Nevada. Thank you for your prayers for us and for your upcoming support of us in prayer. If your church would like to schedule a meeting with us, contact us so we can check available days and see how we can be a blessing to your church.

This Thanksgiving, we thank God for who He is and His many blessings over this past year. Looking back, we have seen God’s provision in various ways, His protective hands as we travel, His goodness in the birth of our daughter, and His great mercy and love to each one of us in the salvation He has bestowed on us. We are thankful for our wonderful family and friends and their support as we press forward to the mission field.

We spent this full month of November in Colorado visiting churches. We began in Aurora with Bethel Baptist Church, where we had a wonderful meeting and Katie spent time with the ladies at a Ladies Luncheon.

That week, we received more snow than most of us had ever seen in person. From there, God protected us as we drove over the mountains to Grand Junction during a snowstorm. We had a wonderful time at Liberty Baptist Church, before heading to Steamboat Springs. It was great to spend the weekend with IBCS graduates now pastoring First Baptist Church. It’s exciting to see how God is using people we know all over the world for His glory.

We finished our trip with West Street Baptist Church in Pueblo and Fruita Faith Baptist Church in Fruita.

We also had the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with a pastor and his wife in Eagle; it was a wonderful day where we were joined by a Filipino couple celebrating their first Thanksgiving and a young Israeli man. Please be praying for this young man, that God would open his eyes to his need for God’s free gift of salvation.

This coming January, we will be taking a 2-week survey trip to Spain. Praise the Lord, the tickets have already been paid for with support received. During this trip, we will be visiting some missionaries in Madrid, seeing their ministry, and exploring where would be the best place for us to be based.

Summer Blessings & Travels

Summer Blessings & Travels

Summer Blessings & Travels

Summer Blessings & Travels

What a whirlwind the last month has been. We have seen God’s protection and goodness in many ways. To begin with the most recent, we are happy to announce the birth of our daughter, Katrina Cassia, born on Tuesday, September 3 at 12:35am and weighing 6lbs 7oz and 19.75in long. Apparently she has a sense of humor and decided Labor Day was actually “labor” day for mommy. Katie is recovering well and home. Katrina is still currently being treated at the hospital as we write this. She had some acidosis in her blood and needed a little extra care, but we are hopeful and praying she will be able to come home in the next week.

We have had 4 great meetings with churches since our last prayer letter, two in Utah and two in Arizona. God gave us safety traveling to Utah and back to visit Grace Baptist Church in Delta and Moab Baptist Church in Moab. We also enjoyed meeting the church familes at Crossroad Baptist Church in Buckeye and Royal View Baptist Church in Gilbert. Each church family welcomed us warmly. Mark was able to share more about our ministry and Katie had the opportunity to sing a special song in English, Spanish, and Arabic, showing a glimpse of what our ministry will look like.

At the end of July, we were also able to spend a few days with Katie’s family in southern Utah. It was a joy to be able to see them again and enjoy some family time before we begin traveling full time this Fall.

We will be at 3 missions conferences this month of September, including one at our home church of Tri-City Baptist in Chandler. We are excited to see God’s continued work in our lives as we seek to serve Him in every aspect, both as we travel and in every day life.

PRAYER REQUESTS

  • For safety as we travel to churches from October through part of December. We have a full schedule and will be on the road full time November through the first half of December.
  • For our son Nathan, that God would even now be working in his 2-year-old heart for salvation.
  • For the salvation of Mark’s father; we’ve been able to share the Gospel with him several times, but he has said he is not ready yet.

Serving together for Christ,

Mark, Katie, Nathan, & Katrina Sarhan

Approved and Beginning Deputation

Much has happened in the past few months. We began 2024 with the wonderful gift of learning we are expecting our second child in September. God is truly good. Our desire and prayer is that the Lord would guide us and use us as faithful parents and stewards of our children.

In March, Mark’s brother-in-law went home to be with the Lord. It was very sudden and a shock to us all. We grieve as we miss him, but we are thankful to know that he is now sitting at our Lord’s feet and seeing Him face to face. Please be in prayer for his wife and young children, for comfort and strength during this time.

On April 7, we met with International Baptist Missions and were approved as missionaries to Spain with Tri-City Baptist Church of Chandler, AZ as our sending church. What an exciting time! We are eager to see how the Lord continues to work and guide us. We are now beginning deputation and the first step of contacting churches to begin scheduling meetings for this Summer, Fall, and Winter.

We were able to take a short trip to visit family in April. It was a wonderful time to relax, encourage each other and share blessings with them before we start to travel.

Our hope is to take a short survey trip to Spain to visit missionaries and learn more about where God might have us base our ministry.

If your church would like to have us come and present our ministry, please contact us using the contact form below to or by email. As we’ve mentioned some before, there are aspects of our ministry that we are not able to share here online, but we would love to share with you and your church.

Give me Father, a purpose deep,
In joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e’er the strife,
Pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, ‘twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
~ C.T. Studd

Please be in prayer that God would give us wisdom as we travel and schedule meetings. We want to be wise and faithful in our time. We would also appreciate prayer for Katie and the coming baby, for their continued health and a safe birth.
