Trip to Spain & New Year

God is good. Over the past 7 months of deputation, we have seen time and again the goodness of God. The birth of Katrina, traveling full-time across multiple states, contacting and visiting churches, and our recent survey trip to Spain; God has been faithful, always provided for our needs, and protected us. We have combined our January and February letters to give a full update of all that is happening.

We finished 2024 with Faith Baptist Church/Iglesia Bautista La Fe in Glendale. During our time off traveling in December, Mark spent a few weeks going through The Exchange Bible study with his dad. As you might remember, we’ve been praying for his dad’s salvation, so this was an answer to prayer to go through this Gospel study. After finishing the 4th lesson, Mark’s dad made the decision to place his trust in Jesus Christ only. Praise the Lord!

January began with a meeting with La Iglesia Evangélica Bautista in Phoenix and then a missions conference at Saguaro Hills Baptist Church in East Mesa. Both were a huge blessing to us and encouraged us spiritually to stay faithful to God and His calling every day.

We celebrated Nathan’s 3rd birthday on January 13. He is an energetic and friendly boy, and we pray that God would work in his heart even now to see his need for Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

On January 20, we flew from Arizona to Madrid, Spain for a 10-day survey trip. What a blessing it was! Yes, we had some luggage issues on the way there, but praise the Lord that was the only issue. We enjoyed meeting the Dyserts in person and seeing their ministry in the Madrid area.

After arriving back to Arizona on February 1st, we came down with the flu and are still recovering from jet lag. But it was a good and profitable survey trip, and was a blessing we could go as a family. Both of the kids did a great job through the airports, on the planes, fighting jet lag, and meeting new people. This was another answer to prayer.

In just a few days we begin our full-time traveling again. We’ll be spending about 3 months in California, Arizona, and Nevada. Thank you for your prayers for us and for your upcoming support of us in prayer. If your church would like to schedule a meeting with us, contact us so we can check available days and see how we can be a blessing to your church.

Winter Travels

This Thanksgiving, we thank God for who He is and His many blessings over this past year. Looking back, we have seen God’s provision in various ways, His protective hands as we travel, His goodness in the birth of our daughter, and His great mercy and love to each one of us in the salvation He has bestowed on us. We are thankful for our wonderful family and friends and their support as we press forward to the mission field.

We spent this full month of November in Colorado visiting churches. We began in Aurora with Bethel Baptist Church, where we had a wonderful meeting and Katie spent time with the ladies at a Ladies Luncheon.

That week, we received more snow than most of us had ever seen in person. From there, God protected us as we drove over the mountains to Grand Junction during a snowstorm. We had a wonderful time at Liberty Baptist Church, before heading to Steamboat Springs. It was great to spend the weekend with IBCS graduates now pastoring First Baptist Church. It’s exciting to see how God is using people we know all over the world for His glory.

We finished our trip with West Street Baptist Church in Pueblo and Fruita Faith Baptist Church in Fruita.

We also had the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with a pastor and his wife in Eagle; it was a wonderful day where we were joined by a Filipino couple celebrating their first Thanksgiving and a young Israeli man. Please be praying for this young man, that God would open his eyes to his need for God’s free gift of salvation.

This coming January, we will be taking a 2-week survey trip to Spain. Praise the Lord, the tickets have already been paid for with support received. During this trip, we will be visiting some missionaries in Madrid, seeing their ministry, and exploring where would be the best place for us to be based.

Stepping Forward Into 2024

Stepping Forward Into 2024

Stepping Forward Into 2024

Stepping Forward Into 2024

As we end 2023 and step forward into 2024, we can’t help but look behind and remember, yet then turn to look ahead. This is true both in day to day life and in the ministry.

This past year of 2023 has been a year of waiting…waiting for God’s leading in the next steps of ministry. For the past few years we have been involved in ministries at our home church in Arizona (Tri-City Baptist Church) as well as Mark working with the military chaplains. We knew God was calling us as a family into full-time ministry and thought we knew where. But God sometimes leads us one step at a time, only showing us the next step in His perfect timing. And He did the same with us.

Over this past summer, our Lord began burdening our hearts for missions. As an MK (missionary kid), Katie’s heart was ready and willing to go. Several years before she had surrendered her life to missions during her church’s missions conference, if that was God’s will. Mark began to feel the Holy Spirit working in him this year, focusing his thoughts more on missions and filling him with the burden of the missionary calling. After much prayer and then seeking guidance from godly mentors, God revealed the next step He would have us take…going to the mission field.

Since that time we have started preparing for deputation.

We are currently meeting with International Baptist Missions and our pastor, Ken Endean, to go through the missionary approval process. Our hope is to begin visiting churches in the next few months.

We have done initial research on the field and met with a few of the missionaries there. The plan is to go on a survey trip to Spain in the summer of 2024. Our hope is to go help a missionary currently on the field as Mark takes language courses to better learn Spanish. As we serve there, we will be looking for opportunities to reach the immigrants and develop relationships.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.

These verses above from Proverbs 3:5-6 have been our family theme verses and ones we seek to live out in our lives. There is a lot we don’t know and steps in the future that aren’t crystal clear at this time. But we know that as long as we trust God, keep our eyes focused on Him amidst all of the distractions of life, and follow the steps He reveals, He will direct us and use us to
